January is peak season at Lake Mattamuskeet, when thousands of wintering birds fill the skies, marshes, and impoundments—creating some of the most unforgettable birding and photography opportunities on the East Coast. During this guided outing, we’ll explore key areas of the refuge in search of: ???? Tundra Swans ???? Pintails, Wigeon, Gadwall & other winter ducks ???? Snow Geese ???? Bald Eagles & Northern Harriers ???? Kinglets, sparrows, woodpeckers & other winter songbirds We’ll also share photography tips for capturing birds in flight, how to use natural light on open water, and how to approach wildlife safely and respectfully.
